Thursday 2nd June 2022 

Village Photograph

 The Bull Inn ~ 10am Please

In Stanford Dingley it is tradition that on the Queens Jubilee we squash the whole village together outside The Bull Inn for a photograph. You can see previous one hanging up in the Club Room. Photographs will be available to purchase. If you are unable to attend on the day but would like to be in the photo please contact Ann Chessum (0118 9744619) who can arrange for you to be added digitally later

If it is wet weather we will reschedule the photo for another day.

 

Thursday 2nd June 2022  – Beacon Party

 The Bull Inn ~ 7pm onwards 

The beacon will be on Butcher’s Piece, next door to the Bull Inn. Street food, burgers and pizzas will be available to purchase along with drinks and other options from the Bull.

Music from the Self Preservation Society (60’s band but will play other genres) 

Lighting of the Beacon is at 9.45pm in line with the nation. No tickets, just turn up. 

 

Friday 3rd June 2022  – Service of Thanksgiving

 St Deny’s Church ~ 6pm

The service will take place outside and will last approximately 30 mins 

We encourage you to come together in our beautiful churchyard to recognise the contribution of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as our Head of the Nation, Head of the Commonwealth and Governor of the Church of England. 

 

Saturday 4th June 2022 

Afternoon at the Races & Party at the Palace

 ~ 1pm until 5pm  invited to join us in the Teepee at the Old Boot Inn for the Epsom Derby

~ Followed by the Party at the Palace on the big screen. 

Horse Racing at the Boot on the Big Screen

There will be seven races screened and the person with the highest return in a free accumulator stake for the seven races will be the village winning Punter and recieve the Jubilee Trophy!

All you need to do is enter the horse that you think will win each race on your race card (These have been delivered to SD Residents – Please contact Darren on 07824 411019 if you need any more)

You can enter your selections anti-post (before the day) by posting them to Willow Cottage (Opp The Bull) and your anti post odds will be noted and your entry returned. Otherwise you can select a horse for each race on the day prior to the start – but note entries must be made before each race starts and last minute enteries could lead to dissappiontment.

Sunday 5th June 2022  – Big Jubilee Lunch

 ~ Street Party – Outside the Old Boot Inn ~ Midday

  • Accompanied by music from Pangbourne Silver Band

Please arrive from 12 Noon onwards – The Big Lunch will start at 1pm with the Nationl Anthem

Bring everything you need for your own Jubilee Picnic ( including food, bubbly, favourite tipple, plates cutlery etc. Tables and chairs will be provided. Food (Shawarmas) and drinks can be purchased from the pub if you prefer.

Dress CodeRed, white and blue with a Royal theme. Prizes for the best dresses Adult and Child

Village Picnic ~ Saturday 24th July 2021

 ~  Village Field,  12 Noon onwards

  • Accompanied by music from Sion Whiley
  • Tug of War (North of the River Pang Vs South of the River Pang)

This will be a relaxed afternoon for the village to get together and meet some of the many newcomers who we have been unable to socialise with due to Covid.

Bring your own picnic, chairs, rugs etc and games if you wish.

If wet or Covid restrictions preclude the picnic will be cancelled.

 

Cabbage Walking Stick Competition ! 

Saturday 26th September – Village Green  12 Noon til 1pm

The annual judging for the most unique village competition. The battle for the wooden spoon is almost as fought after as the grand prize! Prizes for the tallest and shortest. The Rule of Six will apply so please wait to have your cabbage measured if there are folk in front of you. Good Luck all contenders!

VE75 Dig for Victory Produce Competition

September 5th 2020

In honour of the 75th Anniversary of the end of WW2 the Village were asked to take part in a vegetable produce competition and to grow on four staple vegetables (Potato, Onion, Leek and Cabbage).. The judging took place on the Village Green. Click below to see the full report and results!

Due to COVID – 19 we have had to suspend or cancel our planned activities for this year as we await Government guidelines for when we can start to re-plan any events this year. Please keep checking back as the guidelines are updated.

The Events Committee is made up of volunteers in the village who all meet on a regular basis to plan activities for the Village. They always are welcome of any new volunteers, be it to organise a one off event or to be a regular contributor.
